RTA to Construct 700-Metre Bridge Connecting Dubai–Al Ain Road to Nad Al Sheba, Reducing Travel Time to Just One Minute

700-metre connecting Dubai–Al Ain Road to Nad Al Sheba

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced plans to construct a new two-lane bridge in Nad Al Sheba, spanning approximately 700 metres. This infrastructure project aims to significantly improve traffic flow and reduce congestion for residents in the area.

Key Features of the Project

  • Direct Connection: The bridge will provide a direct link for inbound traffic from Dubai–Al Ain Road towards Nad Al Sheba, facilitating smoother commutes for motorists.
  • Increased Capacity: Designed to handle up to 2,600 vehicles per hour, the bridge is expected to alleviate traffic congestion at key entry and exit points in the Nad Al Sheba area.
  • Reduced Travel Time: The new route will cut travel time from Dubai–Al Ain Road to Nad Al Sheba by 83%, reducing the journey from six minutes to just one.
  • Serving the Community: Approximately 30,000 residents in Nad Al Sheba and surrounding neighborhoods will benefit from the improved connectivity and reduced traffic congestion.

Timeline and Additional Enhancements

Construction of the bridge is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2025, with completion targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026. This project is part of RTA’s broader strategy to enhance road infrastructure and mobility across Dubai, aligning with the city’s rapid urban growth.

In addition to the bridge, RTA has implemented several upgrades in the Nad Al Sheba area, including:

  • Enhanced School Zones: Upgrades around schools such as Repton School and Al Khaleej International School, including additional parking spaces and designated pick-up and drop-off areas, enhancing safety for approximately 10,000 students.
  • Improved Access Points: Construction of new entry and exit points from Meydan Street to the residential area, contributing to a 60% reduction in travel time for internal commuters.
Map For The Project

These developments reflect RTA’s commitment to delivering a flexible and integrated infrastructure that keeps pace with Dubai’s rapid urban development, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for residents.
