Maria Spartalis Calls for Bold Climate Investment at Earth Day Times Square Celebration

Times Square, New York — April 22, 2025
In a powerful demonstration of leadership at the intersection of finance and sustainability, Maria Spartalis, international expert in banking and environmental economics, co-hosted the 55th Earth Day Anniversary event in Times Square alongside Reverend Paul Sladkus, founder of Good News Corporation.

Held on the iconic plaza between 46th and 47th Streets, the event brought together artists, global activists, environmental organizations, and financial institutions to champion EarthDay.org’s 2025 theme: “Our Power, Our Planet.” Spartalis used the opportunity to urge the financial sector and government leaders to take real action. “Now is the time to finance our future,” she declared. “We need bold investments in sustainability — not tomorrow, but today.”

The evening featured performances from OMMM, Jarvis Smith, Antonique Smith, and AY Young, and included virtual contributions from global icons such as Ringo Starr, Dr. Jane Goodall, Leonardo DiCaprio, Stevie Wonder, and Shakira, representing UNICEF. The UN Development Programme and the Equator Initiative were also among the event partners.

Peace ambassadors Giorgia Fumanti and pianist Katya Grineva added a message of harmony through music, supporting the call for global environmental responsibility.

Following the program, Maria Spartalis engaged with influential partners including Valley Bank, Swift Rails, American Oriental Arts Foundation, and Gitterman Wealth Management. Several pledged immediate funding for green startups and community sustainability initiatives.

“On Earth Day, and as we celebrate 400 years of New York City, let’s remember we’re accountable to the next 400,” Spartalis stated. “Our planet needs urgent, coordinated investment — and that begins now.”

Maria Spartalis continues to lead global conversations that connect economics, environmental justice, and long-term responsibility — amplifying the call for climate-conscious capitalism on the world stage.
